HistoryThe building, originally constructed in the 1800's, was the Hinesburg Hotel and Carriage House. In 1922 William Lantman and his sons Harry and Lynn purchased the property. This began W.E.Lantman and Sons IGA, an independent general store. W.E. Lantman and Sons provided their customers with products ranging from grocery items like sugar, flour and coffee to hardware, appliances and even property insurance. Since then, in 1988, the store was sold to Brian Busier, who started working at the store at age 14 in 1969, as a store clerk. Long since are the days of a general store selling appliances and insurance. However, Lantman's Market has retained the fundamental premise of a hometown grocery store. Lantman's continues to positively influence the local community by providing employment to over 60 individuals.
