Retreat Healthcare, founded in 1834, is a nonprofit, regional specialty mental health and addictions treatment center. It provides a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation services for individuals of all ages and their families. Its programs provide multidisciplinary assessments, family therapies, psychoeducation, therapeutic activities and substance abuse treatment. The center also operates the Meadows Educational Center, an independent school, which offers an elementary, middle and high school curriculum. Its core courses include math, science, history and English. It also offers electives in art, physical education and health. Located in Brattleboro, Vt., Retreat Healthcare is a member of the Ivy League Hospitals network and is approved by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. It serves as a practicum site for several college and university programs, including Smith College School of Social Work, the University of Massachusetts and Antioch New England.

The Adult Mental Health Division of Rutland Mental Health Services offers a variety of programs and services which are designed to assist people in improving the quality of their lives. We encourage and support each individual to identify and attain his/her personal goals. We empower individuals to grow and gain greater independence. The Child Services Division: When a child in Rutland County needs help, Child and Family Services is always within reach any day, any time. Under Rutland Mental Health Services (RMHS), the programs offered embrace the emotional and behavioral problems that may affect youth, from birth to the teenage years.
