History

Industrial & Military History in a Beautiful Park Located in an historical train depot complex, our collection tells the history of industry and military in vast Tooele County. Learn about mining in the Oquirrh mountains, salt and magnesium processing at the Great Salt Lake, Tooele Army Depot, and 20th century military history. In addition to the steam engine, railroad cars, and exhibits, we are located in a beautiful, serene park.

We are family friendly and want to make learning fun The Tooele Valley Museum has exhibits and activities for people of all ages and interests. Interactive stations are placed throughout the galleries, and we encourage families and groups to explore and learn together. Our children's mascot, Danny the Digger, will guide you to activities for our youngest visitors. Some things to do at the Tooele Valley Museum Step inside Engine 11, a steam engine purchased by the Tooele Valley Railway in 1912 that operated until 1963 Come in the depot and learn about the rich mineral resources of Tooele County and mining industry created around them Explore the artifacts of Tooele County's significant military history Step into our World War II military transport cars and contemplate American life in WWII and the Cold War Walk into our children's underground replica mine Enjoy a picnic in our pavilion Bring a book or a game and relax in the large park Come to an event!
