The Straley Project
The Straley Project is a nonprofit organization based in Layton, UT that is dedicated to supporting and empowering less fortunate youth in Barahona, Dominican Republic. Their mission is to provide these children with access to education and basic needs, using baseball as a means to engage and motivate them. By focusing on education first and baseball second, The Straley Project aims to break the cycle of poverty and give these children a chance at a better future.
Through their efforts, The Straley Project collects supplies and donations to support Los Piratas del Sur, a high school baseball team in the Dominican Republic. They also provide sponsorship for children, ensuring they have access to food and education without having to choose between the two. Additionally, The Straley Project organizes other teams in Barahona and nearby cities to play together regularly, creating opportunities for training, education, and potential scholarships in the Dominican Republic, the United States, or even recognition by Major League Baseball teams.
