The Lights Fest

HistoryFounded in 2008 by director Kayson Brown. The Festival was first called the Summer Youth Symphony Summit. The Lyceum Music Festival has grown from a four-day, day camp to a multi-week lodging/commuting festival that attracts students from across the country. It is one of only a handful of festivals associated with a major symphony orchestra. LMF is sponsored by American Heritage School located in American Fork Utah.SpecialtiesLyceum Music Festival specializes in providing meaningful mentorship for talented orchestral musicians ages 13-21. Internationally renown guest artists combine with faculty from the Utah Symphony to prepare students for a professional level concert. The Festival takes place each summer in July/August at Zermatt Resort in Midway, UT which has a four-diamond rating from AAA. Students may enroll for a single week or multiple weeks. Each week has a different guest artist. String, Wind, Brass, and Percussion students are invited to audition in person or via a recording. Past repertory has included Gershwin's An American in Paris, Beethoven Symphony No. 5, Elgar Enigma Variations, Stravinsky's Firebird and other masterworks. Guest artists/faculty include The 5 Browns, conductor Keith Lockhart, violinist Jenny Oaks Baker, cellist Steven Sharp Nelson from The Piano Guys YouTube Channel, violinists Igor and Vesna Gruppman, and conductor David Cho.
