Salem is a city in Utah County, Utah, United States. It is part of the Provo–Orem, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 4,372 at the 2000 census. The "Dream Mine" of John Hyrum Koyle, as well as the pond, became synonymous with Salem.

Known as "Summer Spring" by the Indians, and "Pond Town" by early settlers, Salem was finally named after the birthplace of Lyman Curtis to honor his contributions to the community.
