Richard V. Williams, MD is a member of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine and Primary Children´s Hospital. His subspecialty is noninvasive cardiac imaging. He sees patients with all forms of congenital heart disease from infancy through late adolescence in his general cardiology clinic at Primary Children's Hospital and Riverton Hospital. Dr. Mark Deneau is the medical director of the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic at Primary Children’s Hospital / Intermountain Healthcare. He leads a multidisciplinary team caring for children and young adults with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, combining clinical expertise with a deeply personal understanding—Dr. Deneau has lived with IBD himself since his teenage years. He takes a thoughtful, conservative approach—avoiding unnecessary procedures or excessive testing whenever possible. He is also part of the liver diseases program and sees patients admitted to the hospital with biliary atresia and liver transplantation. A dedicated educator, Dr. Deneau teaches and mentors medical students, pediatric residents, and fellows, and has received multiple teaching awards for his excellence in communication. He brings this same clarity and compassion to his clinical work, ensuring patients and families understand their diagnoses, treatments, and medications. He draws on humor to connect with families and ease difficult conversations His research focuses on liver disease in children with IBD, particularly primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). He also leads and participates in hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety and reducing the cost of care for gastrointestinal conditions. Outside of the hospital, you can find him mountain biking or working on a massive Lego project with his boys.
