Reena P. Tam

Tiffany Glasgow, MD is a Professor and Chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah. She completed her medical school and residency training at University of California San Francisco in 1997. Her career at the University of Utah began in 2001. Dr. Glasgow’s clinical expertise is in treating hospitalized children at Primary Children’s Medical Center where she has served a number of administrative roles such as Medical Staff President, Medical Officer of the Day, and Ethics Committee. She has lead quality improvement initiatives around care for patients with bronchiolitis and neonatal intensive care transitions to the inpatient setting. Educational missions include prior Course Director of the Clinical Methods and Medical Decision-Making longitudinal curriculum encompassing all 4 years of medical school, and Core Faculty in the Layers of Medicine course in Medical Humanities. She is an advisor for the Education in Pediatrics Across the Continuum (EPAC) multi-center educational innovation project.. Her entire clinical practice involves resident and student learners. She has expertise in Early Career Coaching and serves as a coach and mentor for junior faculty, residents and medical students. She serves as a co-advisor for the Gold Humanism Honor Society in the School of Medicine. As a Wellness Champion, she co-founded the "Thriving in Pediatrics" initiative which has generated over 20 projects to improve provider engagement and mitigate burn-out. Dr. Glasgow has 16 publications in peer reviewed journals relating to newborn infections, intrapartum antibiotic, late-preterm infants, bronchiolitis and competency-based assessment in medical education.

Dr. Lawrence received her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and completed her Pediatric residency and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital. Following fellowship, she spent the first six years of her professional career in a high acuity, tertiary referral, and private practice facility. Upon returning to academics in 2010, she received a Master of Science degree in Clinical and Translational Sciences (2013). She is board-certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. She is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah and is in the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Primary Children’s Medical Center. Her clinical interests include neonatal sepsis, antibiotic stewardship, and the epidemiology of congenital cytomegalovirus, neonatal herpesvirus, and congenital syphilis infections. She is also working towards universal newborn screening for congenital cytomegalovirus infection to enable rapid identification and intervention services to children at risk for sensorineural hearing loss. Her research interests lie in understanding the fundamental mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis and the neonatal innate immune system, with particular focus on neonatal neutrophil function. She is also skilled at designing and successfully completing large clinical studies, with primary goals of translating innovative diagnostics and therapeutics from the bench to bedside. She has active NIH-funded research in the validation of new technology by MelioLabs in the rapid and low-cost detection and identification of pathogens (bacterial, fungal, and viral) in a single, low volume patient sample. She is also nationally funded in the investigation of host cell-membrane wrapped nanoparticles, engineered by Cellics Therapeutics, as a novel adjunctive therapeutic for neonatal sepsis.

Dr. Herman received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed his Pediatric residency at Primary Children’s Medical Center/University of Utah. He subsequently completed his Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at Primary Children’s Medical Center/University of Utah. Dr. Herman is board-certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, and Child Abuse Pediatrics. He is currently Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah and is in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. He serves as Vice-Chair of the Education Enterprise for the Department of Pediatrics and as the Residency Program Director. His clinical interests are abusive head trauma and the recognition of child abuse in the Emergency Department. His research interests are in competency-based medical education and the early recognition of child abuse. Dr. Herman sees patients within the Emergency Department.
