The Utah Department of Natural Resources Map and Bookstore is operated by the Utah Geological Survey; a division of the Department of Natural Resources. The department of Natural Resources is one of Utah's largest state agencies, and helps ensure Utah's quality of life by managing and protecting the state's natural resources. The department is composed of seven divisions: State Parks & Recreation; Oil, Gas & Mining; Wildlife Resources; Water Rights; Water Resources; Forestry, Fire & State Lands; and the Geological Survey. The Bookstore is located on the first floor of the Department of Natural Resources building on the corner of North Temple and Redwood Road in Salt Lake City. Our business hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. The Utah Department of Natural Resources Map and Bookstore carries a variety of books, maps and publications published by our divisions as well as private publishers. We are the state's official source for USGS topo maps as well as Geological Maps. We also carry a variety of recreational books and items.

The Division of Oil, Gas and Mining operates under the Utah Department of Natural Resources. The division was established in 1955 as the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. It prevents wastage of oil and gas, encourages resource conservation and protects the correlative rights of oil and gas resource owners. The Division of Oil, Gas and Mining also conducts the reclamation of abandoned mine sites. It supports coal and mineral regulation programs. The division additionally supports an oil and gas program that promotes the exploration, development and conservation of oil and natural gas resources. It maintains a location in Salt Lake City.
