James M. Hotaling, MD, MS, FECSM, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained urologist specializing in Male Infertility, Erectile Dysfunction, Peyronie’s Disease, Testicular Pain, and other complex Men’s Health conditions. As the highest-volume male infertility surgeon in the Mountain West, Dr. Hotaling offers advanced treatments including penile implant surgery, microsurgical testicular sperm extraction (microTESE), and vasectomy reversal, with excellent outcomes. At University of Utah Health, Dr. Hotaling leads a high-volume, comprehensive men’s health practice dedicated exclusively to the care of male reproductive and sexual health. He performs numerous surgical procedures each year for erectile dysfunction, male infertility, chronic testicular pain, and penile curvature (Peyronie’s Disease). He is also one of the few U.S.-based experts in the field to have completed additional training as a Fellow of the European College of Sexual Medicine (FECSM). In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Hotaling is NIH-funded for his research in male infertility and erectile dysfunction and has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles. He regularly presents at national conferences and serves as an editor of Fertility and Sterility, the leading journal in the field and has served as the past president of the Society for The Study of Male Reproduction (SSMR), the top society for male infertility in the United States. Dr. Hotaling is the Medical Director of the Fertility Integrated Practice Unit, Director of the Men’s Health Program, and Co-Director of the Reconstructive Urology and Men’s Health Fellowship at the University of Utah. Since joining the faculty in 2013, he has been committed to advancing care for men with reproductive and sexual health challenges. Training and Education Dr. Hotaling earned his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College, graduating magna cum laude with a double major in history and biophysical chemistry. He received his medical degree from Duke University, followed by a six-year urology residency at the University of Washington, where he trained under renowned penile reconstructive surgeon Dr. Hunter Wessells. He then completed a fellowship in Male Infertility and Men’s Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago, working with Dr. Craig Niederberger. There, he developed advanced skills in microsurgical techniques including testicular sperm extraction (TESE), microTESE, and vasectomy reversal. Dr. Erica B. Johnstone treats patients with a wide range of endocrine disorders and infertility complications. Dr. Johnstone's specialties are reproductive endocrinology and infertility, providing care in menopause management, transgender health, endometriosis, and in vitro fertilization. She also treats hormonal disorders in children and adolescents. Dr. Johnstone has clinical interests in polycystic ovary syndrome and ovarian aging that are complemented in her research studies. Outside of her professional life, Dr. Johnstone is an avid outdoor enthusiast. She enjoys running, biking, and hiking, often accompanied by her husband and two young children, embracing the scenic beauty of Utah. Dr. Johnstone is currently accepting new patients. Dr. Johnstone began her educational journey with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Yale University, followed by a Medical Degree and a Master of Health Sciences in Clinical Research from Duke University. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University, where she also undertook an internship. Her advanced training continued with a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of California, San Francisco. She is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology with a subspecialty certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Graham E. Wagner, MD is a physiatrist with a focus on the care and treatment of painful spine and musculoskeletal conditions. He holds specialty board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and subspecialty board certification in Pain Medicine. Dr. Wagner works closely with patients to diagnose the source of their pain and to help them understand their treatment options. Treatment plans span the spectrum of conservative care with rehabilitation and exercise all the way through interventional spinal procedures and cutting-edge neuromodulation, with the overarching goal of restoring function and improving quality of life. He also collaborates closely with spine surgeons at the Department of Neurosurgery to ensure that patients have access to the full gamut of spine treatment options and are receiving the “right treatment at the right time for the right reason.” Dr. Wagner completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Utah where he served as chief resident, followed by a fellowship in Pain Medicine at Dartmouth. He currently serves on the Health Policy Division of the International Spine Intervention Society and the Health Policy Council of the North American Spine Society. Dr. Wagner is also a mountain sports enthusiast and a community advocate for sustainable trail development as a means of promoting outdoor recreation and fostering active lifestyles.
