Julie K. Thomas, M.D. is an assistant professor in the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah. She is a clinical rheumatologist who sees patients with systemic autoimmune conditions and inflammatory arthritis. She has a particular interest in quality improvement in patient care. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, and her Medical degree at New Jersey Medical School Newark, NJ. She completed her internal medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and her rheumatology fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She practiced rheumatology in Reno, Nevada prior to joining the University of Utah School of Medicine in 2016.

Bryan R. McRae, M.D., is a specialist in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. Current efforts include partnership with the Center for Medical Innovation (CMI), developing new medical and surgical devices across a range of medical disciplines. He serves as clinical mentor for multiple university BioDesign and BioInnovate student teams within the Biomedical Engineering (BME) medical device development educational programs, with multiple prior teams having won awards at the annual Bench to Bedside competitions. Dr. McRae is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) and is involved in local and national committees. He speaks Mandarin Chinese fluently and actively participates in humanitarian service, including past surgical trips to Kenya, China, and Indonesia. Dr. McRae is a native of Bountiful, Utah, and in his free time, he enjoys many outdoor activities with his wife and family. He also enjoys piano and choral music.

Devon Cooper Nixon

Dr. Devon Nixon is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon and an assistant professor of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He is also the fellowship director for the orthopedic surgery foot ankle fellowship. He specializes in orthopedic foot and ankle care with a particular interest in sports-related injuries and lower extremity trauma, including care of collegiate and professional athletes. His main goals in treatment are to improve patient function and quality of life whether through non-operative care or, if needed, with surgery. He sees patients and operates at both the University Orthopedic Center and the South Jordan Health Center. Originally from Michigan, he graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia, and after college, worked at the National Institutes of Health as a research fellow. He attended medical school at the University of Michigan where he graduated with academic distinction and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society. He completed his residency training at Washington University in St. Louis where he received a clinician-scientist grant from the Orthopedic Research Education Fund (OREF) and was awarded the resident research award. He was an orthopedic foot and ankle fellow at the University of Utah training under Drs. Timothy Beals, Florian Nickisch, and Charles Saltzman. After training, he practiced in Boise, Idaho before returning to the University of Utah in 2021. He has been in practice since 2019. His research has been published in leading orthopedic surgery journals with a focus on patient-reported outcomes. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, committee member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS), journal reviewer for Foot and Ankle International, and a member of the Emerging Leaders Program of the American Orthopedic Association (AOA). Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family.
