Dr. Eric Volckmann is the Director of the University of Utah Health Care Bariatric Surgery Program at the University Hospital in Salt Lake City. Dr. Volckmann specializes in minimally invasive upper gastrointestinal procedures and bariatric (weight loss) surgery. Dr. Volckmann received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He then continued on to his residency in Chicago at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. While at Northwestern, Dr. Volckmann also completed a two-year research fellowship focusing on the development of new minimally invasive surgical techniques. After finishing his surgical residency, Dr. Volckmann then completed a Clinical Assistant Professorship at The Ohio State University Medical Center (one of the oldest training programs in the country focused on minimally invasive surgery) where he gained extensive training in minimally invasive gastrointestinal and bariatric procedures such as laparoscopic gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and adjustable gastric banding. Dr. Volckmann's other areas of clinical expertise include: diagnostic and interventional flexible upper endoscopy, laparoscopic surgery for complicated gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), hiatal hernias, achalasia, and abdominal wall hernias. Dr. Volckmann's research interests include surgical outcomes and quality, and studying the effects of bariatric surgery on inflammation, nutrition, and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Breanne Schiffer, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Laryngology within the Division of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Utah. Dr. Schiffer completed her fellowship training in Laryngology under the guidance of Dr. Marshall Smith at the University of Utah. She also completed her residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Utah. She believes in a multi-disciplinary team-based approach to the management of patients with voice, swallow, and airway concerns and has a particular interest in the medical and surgical treatment of voice disorders. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, and received a Master in Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health. She completed medical school at the Long School of Medicine – University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Schiffer's clinical interests in Laryngology include vocal fold paralysis, vocal fold nodules, polyps, and cysts, laryngeal reinnervation, in-office vocal fold augmentation, vocal fold laser treatments, laryngeal microsurgery, zenker's diverticulum repair, cricopharyngeal myotomy, botox treatment for voice disorders, and endoscopic treatment of airway stenosis.

An obstetrician and gynecologist at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, specializes in women's health, particularly chronic pelvic pain treatment. As head of the Pelvic Pain Clinic, Dr. Howard Sharp offers expertise in minimally invasive surgery, uterine fibroids, endometrial ablation, and colposcopy. Dr. Sharp also advocates for an active lifestyle, enjoying mountain biking and emphasizing exercise, sleep, and stress reduction for patient health. Dr. Sharp is currently taking new patients. Dr. Sharp graduated from Tulane University in 1990 and completed his residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1994. He later pursued a fellowship in Pelvic Surgery at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and now holds leadership roles at the University of Utah. With extensive clinical experience, Dr. Sharp has provided gynecologic care to athletes at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Nationally recognized as an expert in pelvic pain and surgical complications, he has been consistently listed on the Best Doctors in America list since 2002. He has also held leadership positions including President of the International Pelvic Pain Society and Chair of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Committees.
