John C. Carey

Dr. Brinton cares for children as a general pediatrician at South Davis Community Hospital and a Hospitalist at Primary Children’s Medical Center. She has a special interest in disease prevention, child advocacy and the comprehensive care of children with special healthcare needs.Dr. Brinton graduated from the University Of Utah School Of Medicine and completed residency in categorical Pediatrics at the institution. She was a partner with Utah Valley Pediatrics (UVPEDS) in Orem, Utah, for 5 ½ years before leaving practice to care for her family. While in practice, she participated in UPIQ quality-improvement projects in asthma, ADHD and Medical Home, and applied for and was awarded a grant from the Utah Chapter of the American Lung Association for an asthma quality improvement project. She was the chair of the Quality Improvement Committee for UVPEDS her last two years in practice, and served as a volunteer pediatrician at the Utah County United Way free clinic once a month for two years.

Dr. Sarah Cipriano is board certified in Dermatology and sub-specialty boarded in Pediatric Dermatology. She specializes in caring for pediatric patients with complex medical conditions and dedicates significant clinical time to hospitalized children at Primary Children’s Hospital. Dr. Cipriano collaborates closely with pediatric generalists and specialists to provide high-quality, compassionate care. In addition to her general pediatric dermatology clinics, Dr. Cipriano attends specialized clinics including pediatric dermatology/rheumatology, multidisciplinary tuberous sclerosis, and vascular anomalies. Her clinical interests encompass infantile hemangiomas, genetic skin disorders, blistering disorders, autoimmune dermatology, and severe atopic dermatitis. She enjoys working with patients from birth through adolescence. Dr. Cipriano serves as the Pediatric Dermatology Section Chief and Fellowship Director at the University of Utah Department of Dermatology. She is deeply passionate about medical education, actively contributing to both local and national educational efforts. She is the domain expert for dermatology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Cipriano has played a pivotal role in promoting an equitable learning environment within the School of Medicine and Department of Dermatology. She was honored with the 2022 School of Medicine Faculty Diversity and Inclusion Award for her significant contributions in this area.

Dr. Ohls received her medical degree from the University of Utah, where she also completed her residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Neonatology. After 23 years on faculty at the University of New Mexico, she returned to the University of Utah. She currently holds the August L. (Larry) Jung Endowed Chair and serves as Professor and Chief of Neonatology. For more than 35 years, Dr. Ohls has dedicated her clinical and research career to the care of critically ill preterm infants, with a particular focus on fetal and neonatal hematologic development, neonatal anemia, transfusions, and red cell growth factors. She has led numerous NIH- and foundation-funded studies and has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles reporting the results of her clinical research. Dr. Ohls is a frequent invited speaker at national and international conferences and is widely recognized for her collaborative leadership, ethical insight, and commitment to mentoring the next generation of neonatologists. She is an active member of the University of Utah's Neo Heme Team, which advances neonatal transfusion stewardship and research in all aspects of neonatal hematology.
