Intermountain Power Agency is the owner of the International Power Project and was formed as a separate legal entity and a political subdivision of the State of Utah. The agency was organized in 1977, pursuant to the Utah Interlocal Co-operation Act and under the Intermountain Power Agency Organization Agreement. IPP generates an average of more than 13 million megawatt hours of energy annually from its two coal-fired units. The energy is delivered over the project s AC and DC transmission systems to 36 participants in the project. The IPA s membership consists of 23 Utah municipalities that own electric utilities and is located in western Utah. The organization is governed by an elected Board of Directors.
