Hildegard's Food Pantry, a ministry of the Cathedral Church of St. Mark, has been serving the Salt Lake City community since the early 1980s, evolving from humble beginnings in the Cathedral's kitchen to a well-equipped facility that adopts a complete choice approach for all guests. Named in honor of St. Hildegarde of Bingen and beloved parishioner Hildegarde "Hilly" Pischel, the pantry embodies a rich history of Christian service and dignity in providing food and personal care items to those in need.
Serving around 2,000 households a month, Hildegard's Food Pantry collaborates with local organizations to distribute thousands of pounds of food each year, relying on the generous support of volunteers and donations from the community. With a commitment to environmental stewardship, the pantry encourages patrons to bring reusable bags and actively participates in promoting awareness of food insecurity challenges faced by Utah residents.
