Eric R. Scaife

Dr. Meznarich received her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington. She then completed her residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the University of Utah/Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She joined the faculty of the University of Utah in 2016, where she is currently an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. Her clinical and research interests are in non-malignant hematology, bleeding disorders, thrombosis and clotting disorders, and hemoglobinopathies including thalassemia and sickle cell disease.

Quinn Orb, MD, is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Utah and Primary Children’s Hospital. He is double board-certified in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and Pediatric Otolaryngology. Dr. Orb’s clinical interests in pediatric otolaryngology include: Pediatric sinus disease, Microtia and congenital ear deformities, and Obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Orb’s research interests include: Sialorrhea and Microtia. Dr. Orb also performs routine procedures in children such as ear tubes, removal of tonsils and adenoid, removal of benign neck masses, sinus and nasal surgery and repair of ear drums. An Idaho native, Dr. Orb received his undergraduate degree in Spanish and French from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. After living in the Northeast for a few years, he moved to Utah to attend University of Utah for both medical school and residency. Dr. Orb completed his fellowship training in Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology at the University of Utah & Primary Children’s Hospital. Dr. Orb and his family spend their time taking advantage of everything that the Wasatch Front has to offer.

Dr. Rebecca Purtell is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Division and the Program Director for the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship. She takes care of hospitalized children at both Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City and in Lehi. She received her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Dr. Purtell completed her Pediatric Residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and a Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship at University of Utah. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hospital Medicine. She has conducted communication research and quality improvement projects at the intersection of patient safety and handoff. Dr. Purtell had a prior career as a high school math teach and still loves to teach. She leads medical education projects to foster curiosity of the residents and medical students including curricula for diagnostic excellence and social medicine. Dr. Purtell has won local and national advocacy awards.
