Deseret Land & Livestock
Deseret Land & Livestock, located just outside of Evanston, Wyoming, offers an immersive and historically accurate experience for those seeking to embark on a handcart trek reenactment. With a capacity to accommodate groups of up to 600 participants at a time, the site provides 156 handcarts and meticulously planned trek routes spanning 25 to 30 miles. From June to August, treks can be scheduled one to four years in advance, offering a four-day, three-night journey along set routes, complete with missionary-led guidance, portable toilets, and a 500-gallon water tank pulled by the group.
As trekkers traverse the trail, they can engage in activities such as the women's pull and camping in different areas each night. While wood and charcoal fires are prohibited, propane fire pits and cooking stoves are allowed. Additionally, a training seminar for trek leaders and committee members is provided by assigned missionaries at no cost, ensuring a well-prepared and memorable experience. Deseret Land & Livestock focuses solely on providing an authentic handcart trek experience and does not offer rental services or other activities at the site.
