Clever Octopus Creative Reuse Center

History

Through decades of teaching youth programs, we had amassed huge piles of salvaged materials for art. We had a network of sources for specific, hard-to-find reclaimed materials, & we wanted to be able to divert more materials from the waste stream & teach more people how to think creatively about making & repairing. We needed to bring a creative reuse center to Utah. In 2016, we started collecting materials for the organization, saving over 16,000 lbs from the waste stream. In 2017, we opened the first creative reuse center in the state of Utah, located in Murray.

Specialties

Clever Octopus Creative Reuse Center is filled with reclaimed and reusable materials donated from businesses and individuals in and around the Wasatch Front - materials that would otherwise stay hidden in closets for decades or be sent to landfills. Materials include unique and clean manufacturing scraps, yarn, fabric and notions, scrapbooking materials, plexiglass sheets, teacher supplies, plastic treasures, sketchbooks, watercolor, oil, and acrylic paint, beads, buttons, and so many more treasures. We offer classes, workshops, and youth summer camps to explore creative reuse.
