From the time he was little, he knew he wanted to be a podiatrist. Dr. Shelton began his professional pursuits at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and Southern Utah University in Cedar City, earning his undergraduate degree. During that time, Dr. Shelton also completed a two-year mission with the LDS Church in Sao Paolo, Brazil.Shortly after his mission, Dr. Shelton enrolled at the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, obtaining his medical degree in podiatry. Before entering private practice, Dr. Shelton completed a three-year podiatric medicine and surgical residency at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. During that time, Dr. Shelton received training in surgical correction using an interpositional graft for people with hallux rigidus (stiffness in the base of the big toe).At Alpine Foot & Ankle, Dr. Shelton treats patients as members of the family. Whenever possible, he takes a conservative and minimally invasive approach to treatment but provides the latest surgical options, including Lapiplasty bunion correction, when necessary.
