Adrienne Carey, MD is an Assistant Professor in Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah School of Medicine. She is a clinical educator who graduated from the University of Utah in 2009 and attended medical school at the University of Utah School of Medicine. She completed a combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency program at the University of Michigan in 2017. She returned to the University of Utah for sub-specialty training in Infectious Diseases. In addition to clinical work, she co-directs the Host & Defense course for first-year medical students. She is also a member of the Antimicrobial Stewardship team at the University of Utah. Her research interests center on the epidemiology and clinical outcomes of coccidioidomycosis, an infection caused by the endemic fungus Coccidioides. During her free time, Dr. Carey loves to hike, ski and travel.

Rich Wolferz, MD (he/him) is a board-certified family medicine physician in Park City, UT. He attended the University of Connecticut earning Bachelor of Science degrees in biological sciences and physiology & neurobiology at the Storrs campus. He returned to his home state of New Jersey to earn his medical doctorate at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. For residency training, Dr. Wolferz chose the University of Utah for its distinctive blend of community and university training. During residency, he served as chief resident and was awarded the Utah Academy of Family Physicians Resident Leadership Award in 2023. Dr. Wolferz strives to take a whole-person, lifestyle medicine approach to patient care. He practices evidenced-based holistic care and believes our nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and social connections are the foundation of our health. His clinical practice includes taking care of patients across the lifespan for preventive, acute, and chronic disease management. Dr. Wolferz is trained in prescribing medication-assisted treatment for addiction (opioid use, alcohol, and tobacco), HIV PrEP, and psychiatric medications while being skilled in office procedures such as joint injections, long-acting contraception, and minor skin procedures. His research interests include whole food, plant-predominant nutrition for chronic disease remission. His medical interests also include exercise as medicine, public health policy toward active transportation, and the impact of community-oriented physicians. When outside the clinic, he enjoys trail and marathon running, hiking in the Wasatch, and cooking for friends and family. He competes in local races and loves meeting friends new and old at these events. You will likely find him riding his bike around his new home in Salt Lake City so make sure to wave hello.
