James B. Edwards Elementary School is located in Mount Pleasant, S.C., and offers a variety of academic programs and extracurricular activities to students in grades kindergarten through five. Its third-grade students in the gifted and talented program spend the year studying marine science. Its media center has more than 15 computers available for use for all students. The media center also provides Internet access, class assignments and accelerated reader tests. Its guidance classes cover topics, such as conflict resolution skills, character education, anger management, career exploration, drug and alcohol awareness and study skills. It holds a science fair to motivate each student to explore the world of science and to provide an opportunity for students to experience using the scientific process.
