Williamson County Adult Probation Department is also known as the Williamson County Community Supervision and Corrections Department. Headquartered in Georgetown, it has offices in Round Rock, Granger and Taylor, Texas. The department has a wide range of programs to protect the society from offenders. Its absconder caseload program was created in 1992 as a result of increasing caseloads that resulted in officer's inability to focus time and attention on supervising fugitives. The department also tests the offenders under various drug categories, including alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and amphetamines. It has a Central Texas Treatment Center that provides 24-hour community supervision and treatment to alcohol and drug abusers sentenced by the courts. Its pretrial services unit was established in 1990 to develop a supervised release program aimed at reducing jail overcrowding, and all defendants booked into the jail are screened to determine eligibility.
