Whittlesey Landscape Supplies

History

Clayton Whittlesey and his two older brothers founded Whittlesey Landscape Supplies in 1974, as a landscaping and lawn maintenance operation. They expanded their yard in 1979, turning it into a full-service landscape supply yard, the first of its kind in the area to handle special mixes, garden soils, rock, stone, gravel and compost. By 1985, Clayton became the sole owner and the company continued specializing in mulch and custom-blended soil mixtures as well as composts and gravels. While some methods of acquiring materials had always been efficient for the company, Whittlesey realized the opportunity to take in green waste to produce mulch and compost for his customers was a win-win situation. With a second location in Round Rock, TX the company expanded again in the 1990s.
