The West Texas High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) is a regional organization established in 1990 as part of the Southwest Border HIDTA, covering the U.S. border with Mexico from Southern California to the southern tip of Texas.
Comprising twelve counties in west Texas, the West Texas HIDTA's mission is to dismantle drug trafficking organizations in the region and prevent the flow of illegal drugs into the United States through cooperative efforts in intelligence, investigation, interdiction, forfeiture, and prosecution initiatives.
