In 1986, Dr. Stephen G. Slade, an ophthalmologist and world-renowned refractive eye surgeon, joined the staff as a surgical consultant. Dr. Slade was the first doctor in the country to perform LASIK refractive surgery. Today all pre- and post-op care for LASIK is managed in The Woodlands by Woodlands Eye Associates and the surgery is performed by Dr. Slade in Houston.
