Zhiyong Yang, MD, PhD, is an ophthalmologist who has clinical interests in macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, myopic retinopathy, retinal vascular disease, retinal vein occlusion, retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, macular pucker, ocular trauma, and retinal surgery.Dr. Yang received his medical degree at Harbin Medical University in Harbin, China. He earned his PhD in neuroscience at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York, where he conducted research in developmental neuroscience of the retina. Following completion of his doctorate, he continued his research in retinal biology and diseases as a postdoctoralfellow at Wilmer Eye Institute of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, where he received the Douglas Johnson Award for glaucoma research from BrightFocus Foundation.Dr. Yang completed residency training in ophthalmology at Shiley Eye Institute, University of California San Diego, where he was recognized with the Outstanding Knowledge and Academic Performance Award in 2018 and the Residency Teaching Award in 2019. Dr. Yang then completed his advanced specialty training in medical and surgical retina at Wilmer Eye Institute.Dr. Yang is fluent in both English and Mandarin.

Syamasundar Patnana, MD, DCH, FAAP, FACC, FSCAI, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained pediatric cardiologist. His special interests are physiologically advantageous ventricular septal defects, tricuspid atresia, and transcatheter management of heart defects in children.Patnana is a pioneer in interventional pediatric cardiology and made many contributions in catheterization and angiography in the 1970s, balloon angioplasty/valvuloplasty in the 1980s, and transcatheter catheter closure of cardiac defects in the 1990s. He developed a new pediatric cardiology/pediatric cardiovascular surgery program in the 2000s and educational programs and teaching material for physicians in the 2010s and 2020s.Patnana received his medical degree from Andhra University Faculty of Medicine in 1964. He served his internship at King George Hospital in1965. He started his pediatric training with residencies at King George Hospital in 1966, Mercy Hospital Medical Center in 1967, and Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in 1969. He then completed fellowships in pediatric cardiology at Stanford University Medical Center in 1970 and the University Hospitals of Cleveland in 1971.Patnana has authored 440 papers, 17 monographs/books, and 150 book chapters. He had 230 abstract presentations at various national and international scientific societies, and his invited presentations were more than 150. He has lectured and made catheter intervention demonstrations in a number of countries including India, U.S., Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Jordan, New Zealand, and Sweden.
