HistoryBrown Santa started in 1981 with a few deputies helping about 25 families in the unincorporated areas of Travis County. Brown Santa is kicking off their 34th Holiday Season of helping and giving to children and families. The Brown Santa Program is a community service of the Travis County Sheriff's Office and the many sponsors and volunteers who make it happen each year. This program provides assistance to underprivileged children and their families in Travis County and Senior residents of local retirement centers in Travis County. Brown Santa is a tax-exempt organization (501c3).SpecialtiesWe provide under privileged families in the rural areas of Travis County (outside the city limits of Austin) with Christmas gifts for children ages 0-14. We also provide those families with a box of food items such as corn, greenbeans, cake mix, icing and stuffing to name a few. In addition to the box of food, we also provide a 12 to 14lb turkey for a family dinner.
