The Love of China School of Dance, located in northwest Austin, offers young people the unique opportunity to learn traditional Chinese dances. With students ranging in age from four to eighteen, the school is well-known in the Austin area and has performed at numerous cultural events and recitals, always to packed theaters. The Love of China is dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of the Chinese American community and introducing Chinese culture to American society through dance performances.
Founded in 1999 by Emily Dedear, a dance major and expert in Chinese folk dance, the school provides a nurturing environment for students to grow in determination and confidence while connecting deeply with their heritage. Emily Dedear, who received the Flying Phoenix award in 2008, specializes in Chinese folk dance, Kung Fu for Chinese Opera, ballet, and more. This place is very packed and it is very community oriented. My gripe with them is that when they found out I wanted to enroll my son in dance classes, I didn't even rate a return phone call....
