Texas State Independent Living Council
The Texas State Independent Living Council (SILC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that Texans with disabilities have access to quality Independent Living Services. Led by a majority of individuals with disabilities and appointed by the Governor, the council develops, monitors, and evaluates the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL), which sets the framework for service delivery across the state.
In collaboration with Centers for Independent Living (CILs), the Texas SILC advocates for issues affecting people with disabilities and coordinates resources to expand services and foster partnerships. With a mission to empower individuals to live independently, the Texas Network for Independent Living comprises 27 CILs that provide essential support and services to Texans with disabilities and seniors.
