The Texas Military Forces Museum, situated in Austin, TX, presents a comprehensive exploration of the Lone Star State’s militia and volunteer forces dating back to 1823. Covering the period from the establishment of the National Guard in 1903 to the present day, the museum showcases the history of the Texas Army and Air National Guard, as well as the Texas State Guard, during peacetime and wartime.

Visitors to the 45,000-square foot museum can immerse themselves in the rich narrative of the Texas Military Forces through an array of permanent exhibits featuring uniforms, weapons, equipment, personal items, film, music, photographs, and battle dioramas. The museum vividly recounts significant historical events, including the Texas Revolution, the Mexican War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Global War on Terror.

Living history programs, battle reenactments, and special events held throughout the year provide an interactive and engaging experience for visitors of all ages.
