The original feed store, founded by Bo Pilgrim of Pilgrim's Pride Corp, provided local farmers and ranchers products and services they needed to support their livelihood so that they would not have to travel to adjoining towns to obtain them. Originally, one of the products provided was a live and fully feathered frying chicken sold to local housewives, usually on Saturday afternoon. Mr. Pilgrim said I grew these chickens in a pen behind the store. When these little old ladies would come by to pick one for Sunday lunch, they never picked one close by but rather one that was always at the far end of the pen.
