History

I began preparing my Spanish teaching material in the same way that I had constructed my own material when I was learning English. I have developed and continue developing different methods relevant to each level as well as to the needs of each individual student within the classes. My teaching career began in South Carolina working with professionals at a technical company and later progressed to work at a technical college there. Upon moving to Austin with my family,I became the Spanish instructor for Informal Classes offered by UT in Austin where I taught for 23 years. I began offering small group classes, and taught in different locations throughout Austin. Since the beginning of the pandemic, I have been teaching all levels of classes virtually through Zoom and am enjoying working with my Austin students as well as others who live in various cities throughout the United States. This makes for very interesting interaction .

Specialties

I am Martha C. Randall and have over 25 of experience teaching Spanish for adults . I am the only instructor, and I keep my weekly classes small and arranged according to levels. Verbal interaction is important, and conversation as well as questions are encouraged throughout the classes regardless of level. I provide handouts which include vocabulary, grammar lessons and short stories, and I use a variety of interactive tools such as games with written questions, riddles, flash cards and posters. I am most happy to stay in touch with my students throughout the week by email and text. The classes are lively, fun and filled with humor. My goal is to help my students gain fluency, excellent grammar, and cultural understanding in a seemingly effortless manner. . Please, come and enjoy this experience on Zoom!
