San Antonio Lighthouse is a private, nonprofit organization incorporated in the state of Texas. Founded in 1933, it serves people who are blind or visually impaired and provides rehabilitation programs and employment opportunities. The organization offers rehabilitation services and employment opportunities through its manufacturing and assembly plants and base service centers at more than 10 military installations located in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. It offers a wide range of rehabilitative services, including career guidance, skills assessment, counseling, placement, job coaching, peer support, technology evaluation and training. The organization provides employment opportunities in various areas, such as machine and hand assembly, automatic sewing operations, machining, hardware and rivet insertion, packaging, and warehousing and distribution. The organization also offers a federal program that serves more than 36,000 people with severe disabilities and supplies various products and services to the federal government. It is affiliated with the National Industries for the Blind.
