History
The building at this location was built by my father in 1959 as Roy's Camera Nook. It never was a theatre. Father thought the marque was the best way to advertise. At the time the store was built he shot portraits, sold cameras, dark room supplies, film, flashbulbs, and did photo finishing. That same year a hobby salesman came by and asked dad if he would put hobby supplies in the store on consignment. At that time there were no hobby stores in south Texas (we have carried hobby supplies ever since). In 1982 the name was changed to Roy's Hobbies & Electronics, and we dropped the photographic equipment and camera supplies. About 6 years ago we added guns and got our FFL license.
