The Women s Home is a multiethnic, nonprofit organization that serves women who have experienced homelessness because of mental illnesses, abuse and addiction. Founded in 1957, it operates a life learning center that offers various clinical, vocational and chemical dependency programs. The organization offers an 18-month residential program that focuses on building self-confidence to overcome mental illness. The Women s Home has a 26-bed dormitory that provides individual and group counseling, as well as weekly case management services. Its dormitory provides assistance with relapse prevention and recovery life skills to residents with substance abuse disorders. The organization s aftercare services focus on helping graduates to overcome job-retention challenges through vocational support groups. The Women s Home is located in Houston.
