Reedy Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, established in 1848, holds a significant place in Texas history as a symbol of liberation and faith. Originally founded by Black slaves who were gifted the land for worship, the church has withstood numerous adversities, including The Great Fire and multiple hurricanes, while continuing to serve the community through education, outreach, and spiritual guidance.

As the site where General Order #3 was read, announcing the end of slavery in Texas, Reedy Chapel is not only a historical landmark but also a vibrant location for community gatherings, including its popular Juneteenth celebration. The church's mission encompasses equipping believers for outreach, community service, and fostering economic growth.
