Property Tax Assistance Division

The Property Tax Division operates under the government of the state of Texas. The division researches and publishes an annual school district property value study report, as well as holds administrative hearings. It distributes a variety of manuals and provides advice and information on property tax issues. The Property Tax Division administers university fund-related property taxes, economic development refund cases and a tax abatement registry. The division provides legislative support by preparing fiscal notes, monitoring committees and providing testimony. In addition, it imparts training to appraisal review boards, provides information to the public, and schedules seminars and presentations for appraisers and taxing authorities. The Property Tax Division maintains a location in Austin, Texas.
