My name is Neil Vanderschaaf. I am the owner and sole employee of this firm. I started this business in April of 2014 but my involvement with the piano goes back many years. When I was 4 I began piano lessons. I quit briefly and then began taking again when I reached 3rd grade. After that I did not quit until I got my B.A. from the University of Iowa with a major in music/piano performance. While I was in college I met and married Ann Knickel who was also studying piano. She is now a successful private piano teacher in the Round Rock, TX area ( Ann Vanderschaaf Piano Studio )After receiving my BA degree I continued in the academic world obtaining a BSEE (Summa Cum Laude) from Southern Methodist University and a MSEE from Purdue University. I worked for many years as an Electrical Engineer but now have returned to my early love of pianos but with a twist. Instead of pursuing performing I am now learning all that I can about the insides of a piano so that I can work to bring out the best sounds and performing capabilities a given piano can be coaxed to produce. One step in that journey included enrolling and graduating from the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology.
