Galveston's 28,000-square-foot, four-story Moody Mansion was completed in 1895. The home has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of the Interior since 1994 and has been a Recorded Texas Historical Landmark since 1967. Today, our guests visit 20 rooms on a tour that depicts the home life of a powerful Texas family. The Moodys established one of the great American financial empires. Based on cotton, it grew to include banking, ranching, insurance, newspaper publishing, railroading, and hotels.

Central Cultural Center

Old Central Cultural Center Inc in Galveston, TX is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the rich history and cultural heritage of the area. They have transformed the historic Old Central High School into a vibrant community center and also established the Jack Johnson Park, honoring the legendary boxer and Galveston native, John Arthur Jack Johnson. With the help of dedicated board members and community leaders, Old Central Cultural Center Inc has secured funding to build the Jack Johnson Community Park, adjacent to the Old Central Center.
