Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Montgomery Street Motorcycle Club is comprised of men and women who enjoy motorcycles as much as they enjoy the finer things in life. Many members work in advertising, law, medicine, technology, or are business professionals--by day. At any given moment, however, these daydreamers can be found scooting about California, the United States, and the world, engaged in their not-so-common passion. The Club is limited to 40 Active Members. Usually, openings occur only when a member moves away from the Bay Area or gives up the sport. Associate Membership is available to past members wishing to stay informed or join the group on an occasional basis. Non-Resident Membership grants Club benefits to our free-ranging brethren who want to participate and don't mind racking up the miles to join the fun. MSMC'ers are non-denominational: any bike is a good bike, though you may have to defend your choice du jour. Since the Club tends to ride hard and fast in an aggressive sport-touring vein, good quality machinery and better quality riders make a big difference in everyone's enjoyment. Destination Rides tend to be 300-500 miles away--though the mileage covered to get there is often more! The Club prefers to stay at nice places. Either the locale should be splendid or the facility outstanding--preferably both. Examples of the former include Songdog (R.I.P.), Three Rivers, and Weaverville. Examples of the latter include the Benbow Inn, the Bodega Bay Spa, and the Furnace Creek Inn. Examples of both include Mendocino, Carmel, Yosemite, and the list goes on....
