The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, also known as MDACC, focuses on the elimination of cancer through various programs that integrates patient care, research, prevention and education. Established in 1941 by the Texas Legislature as a component of The University of Texas System, the center is located within the campus of the Texas Medical Center. The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center offers surgical, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiation therapy services. It conducts research programs on brain, breast, genitourinary, lung, ovarian, prostate, uterine, pancreatic, and head and neck cancers, as well as melanoma and leukemia. The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center administers educational programs for students, physicians, scientists, nurses and other health care professionals.
