The County Clerk s office operates recording and court departments. It oversees criminal, civil, birth and death cases, as well as probate records. The office s recording department oversees general filing, including deeds, deeds of trust, and federal and state tax liens. The County Clerk s office issues marriage licenses and birth and death certificates. The office is a part of the McLennan County government, which operates auditor s, budget and tax offices. It also operates health services, information technology, maintenance, purchasing and human resource departments. McLennan County is a member of the National Association of Counties.
