In 1980, she opened her own boutique firm specializing in family law.In 1978, Sheryl along with three other family lawyers, founded the Family Law Section of the Houston Bar Association. Thereafter, she served two terms as president of the organization.In 1979, Sheryl became one of the first females to become certified by the Texas Bar Association as a family law specialist.Sheryl became the third female in Texas to be asked to join the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Attorneys.
