Lantern Drilling Company is a subsidiary of Forest Oil Corporation, which is an independent, publicly traded company engaged in the acquisition and development of mineral reserves throughout North America. Established in 1916, Forest Oil Corporation specializes in the exploration, production and marketing of natural gas and crude oil. The parent company owns producing properties in Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Wyoming, as well as Canada. It maintains operations through more than five business units, including Western, Eastern and Southern. The parent company additionally operates the International business unit, which has a presence in Italy and South Africa. Its subsidiaries include Forest Oil Panhandle Resources, Forest Oil Permian Corporation and Canadian Forest Oil.
