Crawford, TX 76638

The Lake Waco Wetlands, a division of the City of Waco Water Utility Services Department, was established in 2000 following a decision by the Waco City Council to raise the level of Lake Waco by seven feet. This expansion created an additional 20,000 acre-feet of water, with the wetlands serving as a vital habitat mitigation area for native flora and fauna in central Texas.

Constructed in 2001 and spanning over 180 acres, the Lake Waco Wetlands is home to a diverse range of aquatic and terrestrial species. Partnering with entities such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Baylor University, the wetlands feature a Research and Education Center completed in 2004, offering educational programs and research opportunities to visitors interested in the environmental significance of wetland ecosystems.

Nice quiet place to walk or run. Very dog friendly. They even provide a free dog waste disposal station.

Small, somewhat family friendly. Good little nature walk. Good place for education if you believe seeing is believing. However, sometimes the wetlands are dry due to harsh Texas conditions

Best place for peace and quiet. I love going on walks and seeing Mother Nature. It's so beautiful, our kids love it.
