James M. Saucedo, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon caring for patients with hand and upper extremity injuries and disorders. He’s an associate professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Saucedo grew up near Houston in Rosenberg, Texas. He received his Master of Business Administration degree from the Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Rice University in 2007 and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 2008. In 2013, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, where he was awarded the Brian Hartigan, MD Award for compassionate care, clinical excellence, and commitment to teaching. In 2014, he completed his hand and microvascular surgery fellowship at the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Saucedo is involved with various medical organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), where he served in various capacities since 2014, including on the governing council as the Practice Division Director 2021-2024. Before joining UTHealth Houston, Saucedo practiced in San Antonio at The Hand Center of San Antonio and part time at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital, where he maintained a busy clinical practice, helped train residents and fellows, and created an elective program for orthopedic surgery residents from Madrid, Spain, through which they can travel to the United States to gain experience in hand and wrist surgery. Outside of work, Saucedo enjoys spending time with his family, listening to music, roasting coffee, and teaching and presenting in various settings.
