Irvin Sulapas , MD

E. Peter Sabonghy, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in advanced shoulder and knee reconstruction and sports medicine. He’s also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and the medical director of the Ironman Sports Medicine Institute at Memorial City. Sabonghy is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the Texas Society of Sports Medicine.

Alfred A. Mansour, MD, is a board-certified and dual fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. He treats patients of all ages, from infants to adults. He is one of only a handful of surgeons nationally employing both arthroscopic and open surgical techniques, including periacetabular osteotomy, for complex hip problems such as emoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and hip dysplasia. He also specializes in fractures and growth plate injuries of the extremities, patellar instability, osteochondritis dissecans (OCD), ACL ruptures, and cartilage injuries of the elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. He has advanced training in orthopedic sports medicine and pediatric orthopedic surgery, with an emphasis on hip preservation. His training has shaped his subspecialized expertise in youth sports medicine and hip preservation in children and young adults. Mansour is a professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. He is the director of pediatric orthopedics and the comprehensive Hip Preservation Program. He is also a team physician for the Houston Rockets. Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Mansour completed fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at UCHealth Steadman Hawkins Clinic – Denver and in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Children’s Hospital Colorado. His training shaped his subspecialized expertise in youth sports medicine and hip preservation in children and young adults. His experience at the elite level of athletics as a competitor and physician gives him a unique perspective in caring for high-level athletes of all ages.

Paul Shupe, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine with an emphasis on diagnosing and treating knee, shoulder, elbow, and other sports-related injuries and disorders. His patients value his shared decision-making approach to treatment. He spends time with his patients and develops a valuable doctor-patient relationship that helps navigate recovery. He uses the latest evidence-based treatments to help athletes of all ages return to their sports. Shupe has extensive, hands-on experience in sports medicine. He treats athletes playing high school and collegiate sports, as well as professional and recreational athletes. He has worked with the Texans, Rockets, Astros, and Dynamo professional sports teams in Houston. He currently serves as co-medical director for the NCAA University of Houston Athletic Department and head team physician for the NCAA University of Houston Cougars, the Memorial High School Mustangs, the George Ranch High School Longhorns, and other Houston schools. Shupe is also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. After completing an internship in general surgery at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, Shupe served as a naval flight surgeon in Beaufort, South Carolina, caring for the marines and sailors of VMFA-312 and MAG-31. He went on to serve as a staff orthopedic surgeon at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan, and Naval Hospital Jacksonville in Florida. He then completed fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at UTHealth Houston. Shupe is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is actively involved in the orthopedic community. He serves locally as the vice chair of orthopedic surgery at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center and nationally on committees for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Outside of work, Shupe enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, exercising, watching movies, and traveling.
