Welcome to the Houston Permitting Center, where the City of Houston's permitting and licensing services are consolidated for convenience. Opened in June 2011, the center is dedicated to helping customers achieve their goals while adhering to city regulations. Emphasizing excellent service, streamlined processes, innovative technologies, and proactive customer engagement, the center aims to provide a seamless experience for all.
The Office of the City Engineer within the center oversees floodplain management, street cuts, and stormwater quality in compliance with local and federal regulations. From construction standards to mobility permits, the office ensures the safe and efficient development of the city's infrastructure. Additionally, the Building Code Enforcement division manages private building construction regulations and sign administration, promoting a secure built environment.
Infrastructure & Development Services, a part of Houston Water services, focuses on areas such as developer contracts, engineering services, impact fee administration, and open records processing. Through these services, the center facilitates responsible development while maintaining transparency and accountability in all processes.
