Houston City Police Department

The Houston Police Department, located in Houston, maintains various divisions, including patrol unit, records bureau, services division, victim services unit, crisis negotiation team and traffic unit. It offers a variety of services, such as community policing and statistics, criminal investigations and street crime interdiction. The department also offers several support services, including gun registration, animal control, and traffic and parking enforcement. The Houston Police Department, additionally, provides a range of victim services that includes informing victims of available services with processing of compensation claims, providing counseling and training, preparing the victim for court proceedings, and referring the victim to local, state and federal support groups.
