Highlands Volunteer Fire Department

The Highlands Fire Department, established on October 29, 1942, is a combination Volunteer, Part-Time, and Paid organization dedicated to protecting approximately 15,500 residents across a 25-square-mile area in Highlands, Texas. Operating from two stations, the department responds to a variety of emergencies including structure fires, brush fires, vehicle accidents, and medical assists, while also maintaining mutual aid agreements with neighboring cities.

Supported by community donations and the Harris County Emergency Services District #14, the Highlands Fire Department is committed to fire safety and prevention. The department features modern facilities, including Station 27, which was completed in 2017 as a state-of-the-art facility, further enhancing its capability to serve the community effectively.
